Working at the firm

The firm is small and intends to stay that way for now. Work is not passed down a chain: whoever is instructed on a matter drafts it, argues it and answers for it, with a partner supervising.

That suits advocates who want responsibility early and are willing to be held to it. It suits nobody who wants to specialise narrowly in the first few years.

What we look for

• Enrolment with the relevant Bar Council, or eligibility for it.
• Drafting that is clear before it is clever.
• Willingness to appear, and to prepare properly before appearing.
• English and Urdu in writing. Additional languages are useful given the firm’s institutional work.

Internships

The firm takes a small number of law students for short placements during vacations. Placements are unpaid, limited in number, and offered only where there is real work to give.
